Antelope Valley Fair Telecommuting Center (at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds)

The physical description of this site remains unchanged, with 20 open-area workstations, four private offices, a conference room, and a videoconference room available in an 8,000 square foot facility. The center has enough computers to equip all workstations (25 personal computers and five Macintosh computers); however, due to security concerns, most of the computers are kept in storage until needed. Each workstation currently in use is also equipped with either a laser printer or dot matrix printer. All grants for this center have expired, with the exception of Caltrans funding. Rent for use of the site is currently set at $200 - $400 per month for an office and $150 - $350 per month for an open workstation, depending on the needs of the user.

The site's marketing activities have included distributing pamphlets and brochures; giving presentations to various community and business groups; and meeting with the Southern California Telecommuting Partnership, which is a networking group consisting of administrators, employers, and telecommuters that discusses telecommuting issues and shares ideas. Marketing activities are currently delayed during the month of the fair and will resume in September.

A total of seven people from two government agencies and two private companies use the facility, with one or two telecommuters in the center each day. In addition, three to five clients use the conference or videoconference facilities on a regular basis.
