Anaheim--Landmark TeleBusiness Center

This center is located in the downtown Anaheim redevelopment area. It occupies the first two floors of the Kraemer building, a 7-story building constructed in 1924. Approximately 6,700 square feet of the building has been renovated and is being used for the telecenter at this time, and an additional 6,300 square feet is available for expansion and lease. The center offers a total of 15 workstations; one conference room; one videoconference room with PictureTel desktop equipment; a computer room equipped with ten personal computers on a local area network, one color printer, one laser printer and one bubble jet printer; and separate kitchen and lounge facilities. The center also has photocopy and facsimile machines, Internet access, and ISDN lines. Additional available services are: voice mail, word processing, secretarial assistance, desktop publishing, computer training, and UPS and Federal Express pickup and delivery.

Funding for development of the site was provided by the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency, videoconferencing equipment was donated by Office Telephone Management and PictureTel, and the telephone system and voice mail were donated through Fairchild Communications (formerly JPW Telecon) and Active Voice.

Recent marketing efforts have included advertisements in local newspapers and on radio, development of a new tri-fold brochure about telecommuting, and distribution of flyers in parking lots and at private residences. Site developers have also had some success by asking companies to mail information about the telecenter to their employees. The site administrator hosted a videoconference about telecommuting that connected the city of Anaheim and the CASU offices in Washington DC on April 27-28, 1995. Developers are currently creating a World Wide Web page about the center.

Six telecommuters from five different employers currently use the downtown Anaheim telecenter. Approximately five people use the center each day.
