Here are common concerns telemanagers have about telecommuters working at a Telecenter. You may want to schedule a meeting with the Telecenter Manager to discuss the following items:
- How many days a week does my telecommuter have access to the Telecenter?
- What hours can my telecommuter work at the Telecenter?
- What is the phone number of the fax machine and how does my telecommuter use it? How are the fax messages billed? Does my telecommuter need special arrangements to bill the phone call back to the main office?
- How does my telecommuter use the copying machine?
- How many copies can be made from the machine?
- Whom does my telecommuter call if there's a problem with the fax machine or copying machine?
- Is there room for my telecommuter to store items at the Telecenter and how secure will they be?
- Whose responsibility is it to answer the telephone at the telecommuter's workstation and who pays the bill?
- Who fixes the telephone if it breaks?
- Is there a computer at the telecommuter's workstation?
- Is public transit available to the Telecenter?
- Where can a bicycle be stored if necessary?
- Is there child care nearby?
- Will my telecommuter be informed regarding building logistics (location of restrooms, whom to call for problems, etc.)?
- How can I and the work group reach my telecommuter at the Telecenter?
- Does the telecommuter have to sign in every day when working at the Telecenter?
- Is there a secretary available to type correspondence and answer the phone?
- What accommodations are being provided for parking?
- Will my telecommuter be oriented to the "rules" of the Telecenter?
- How can I schedule a tour of the Telecenter?
- Will you be monitoring my telecommuter, i.e.: what time he/she comes in the morning, if he/she is goofing off, etc.?
