Before your telecommuter begins work at the Telecenter, you
may want to schedule a discussion with him/her to cover the
following points.
- How many days a week will your schedule permit working at
the Telecenter?
- During what hours will your schedule permit you to work?
- How often do you need to check in with the office?
- How will you report your payroll information while you are
working at the Telecenter?
- Do you know whom to call for assistance?
- How will you communicate with your peers, staff and your
supervisor while you are telecommuting?
- How will you and I communicate the expectations for your
telecommuting day?
- What impact, if any, will telecommuting have on your career
plans?
- Do you need the flexibility to change the days you
telecommute on an "as-needed" basis?
- Is there a need for more performance reviews because you
are telecommuting?
- How will you manage conflicts in your work group when you
are telecommuting?
- What is the easiest method for your work group to
communicate with you while you are working at the Telecenter?
- If a meeting is changed, or deadlines are changed, how
shall we communicate that to you?
- Will your compensation be altered because of telecommuting?
- What equipment and software will you need at the
Telecenter?
- How will your phone charges be paid while you work at the
Telecenter?
- How will we (in the office) know that you are
telecommuting?
- How will I know you are working while you are at the
Telecenter?
- How can I contact you while you are at the Telecenter?
- How shall we manage any emergency situations that may arise
regarding your projects while you are telecommuting?
- Does someone need to fill in for you while you are
telecommuting?
- How shall we answer your telephone when you are
telecommuting?
- Do we need to make special arrangements for parking at the
Telecenter?
- Do we need to make special arrangements for administrative
support (typing, photocopying, faxing, etc.) at the Telecenter?
- Are you familiar with the "rules" of the Telecenter?
- Are you comfortable with the area where the Telecenter is
located and will you be able to work there without a major
adjustment?
- What kinds of interruptions do you anticipate and how will
you manage them?
- How long do you think it will take you to become proficient
at telecommuting?
- What is a convenient day for both of us to schedule a tour
of the center?
- Are there any concerns or second thoughts you're having
about working at the Telecenter?
