Institute of Transportation Studies

The UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies hosted a Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicle Programs Open House on Monday, October 20, 2003. Over 280 friends of UC Davis attended the event, and many media outlets covered the program and reported on the featured projects. The keynote speakers for the formal program included Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef, California State Assemblywoman Lois Wolk, California Air Board Chair Alan Lloyd, Toyota Fuel Cell Vehicle Executive Yoshio Kimura, ITS-Davis Director Dan Sperling and Vice Chancelor for Research Barry Klein.

The programs featured are listed below. For each program, the poster presented and the one-page description may be viewed and downloaded. Also below are pictures from the Open House.

Graduate student Meena Sundaresan test-drives Toyota's latest FCHV delivered to UC Davis at the Open House. Toyota executive Yoshio Kimura affirms Toyota's commitment to fuel cell vehicle research at ITS-Davis and worldwide.
Mechanical Engineering professor Paul Erickson with the first liquid-fueled FC bus in the U.S., now at UC Davis for research and education programs. ITS-Davis students, faculty and staff pose with the hydrogen enriched natural gas bus. UC Davis's Diesel Truck APU project is demonstrated during the program spotlights segment of the Open House.
