Institute of Transportation Studies

Graduate and Undergraduate Education

Pat Mokhtarian and Taihyeong Lee

The education program at ITS-Davis is designed to meet the world’s growing needs for qualified, thoughtful and dedicated engineers, policy makers, technicians and advocates. In addition to coursework and research, students interact with researchers and leaders from industry, government, public interest groups, and academia through seminars, internships, and visiting lectures. Its interdisciplinary approach transcends the boundaries of traditional engineering-based studies to include social and behavioral sciences, ecology, and management.

More than half of our graduate students in transportation are enrolled in the Transportation Technology and Policy (TTP) program. TTP draws from 26 different academic disciplines including economics, social sciences, statistics, law, management, science, and engineering.

The next largest group of students is enrolled in the Transportation Planning and Design program of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). The Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (MAE) also offers degree programs in transportation. Students may also pursue degrees in other departments that offer related studies.
