Fall 2020 virtual new student orientation

Congratulations, and welcome to the ITS-Davis family! This page contains information for all incoming ITS-Davis students. The Graduate Studies Newly Admitted Students page provides additional important information.

ITS-Davis New Graduate Student Orientation

Monday, September 28, 2020, 10:00am – 3:00pm. We will host the annual Fall Barbecue (all students, faculty and staff invited) from noon to 2 p.m on the West Village Square.

Incoming Graduate Student Facebook Group

You are welcome to join our Facebook group for graduate students entering in fall 2020. The group is designed to introduce incoming graduate students to life at UC Davis and will post on a variety of topics, including housing, transportation, funding, wellness, and social engagement.

UC Davis Office of Graduate Studies Graduate Student Orientation

Academic Calendar

Fall Quarter 2020 begins on Monday, September 28. Visit the UC Davis campus calendar to find out the holiday breaks and other important dates.

Computer and E-Mail Accounts

You may obtain a UC Davis e-mail address, login ID, and Kerberos password online through Information and Education Technology (IET). Please provide your new e-mail address to Annemarie Schaaf (aschaaf@ucdavis.edu) so that she can add you to our e-mail lists to make sure you don’t miss any future important announcements.

Student ID Number

Your student ID number was given to you in your official letter of admission from the Office of Graduate Studies. You can access your letter by returning to the Embark Online Admission system.

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

Your graduate student health insurance became effective the first day of the Fall 2020 quarter (Monday, Sept. 28). SHIP information may be reviewed at the SHIP website. If you plan to continue to carry private insurance and do not wish to be enrolled in UC SHIP, you must apply for a UC SHIP Waiver by the posted waiver deadline.

UC Davis Photo ID Cards

New graduate students will receive a UC Davis AggieCard, your official UC Davis identification. Graduate students can upload their photo and pick up their AggieCard during the summer at the AggieCard office.

International Student Orientation Program

International students should check in with Services for International Students and Scholars. For more information please review the SISS Newly Admitted Students website.

English for International Students

All new international graduate students are required to take an English language course during their first academic year, unless they meet the listed requirements.
